I’ve recently applied for a field sales representative role in South Wales. I don’t have any previous experience within FMCG sales but I have a wealth of sales experiance within recruitment. I have many transferable skills which would which would suit the role perfectly.
Hi Ady. We value diverse backgrounds and welcome candidates who bring transferable skills. With 12 years of recruitment sales experience, you likely have a wealth of client management, communication, and strategic thinking skills that can be highly valuable in a new career path. We’d be happy to explore how your experience aligns with our opportunities :)
Hi Ady,
I thought I would share a perspective on this topic, as sure it may interest others. I started my career in CCEP in field sales. I moved from a sales role in a Commercial department at a football club and remember when applying to CCEP that I didn't have FMCG experience but there were a number of transversal skills which applied to both. At the time it was important to show passion for the brand, ability to build client relationships, and creative problem solving. Over ten years, and 8 different roles later, I'm in a global role looking after innovative technology! On paper, this couldn't seem further away from Field Sales, which I hope goes to show with the right mindset to learning new skills and building on your strengths, you can forge your own path. My one piece of advice, don't forget to talk about strengths you'd like to strengthen in any role. As an interviewer it is great hearing how people want to learn and grow... Good luck!
