You just need the basics to absolutely honest and that comes down to communication, as a merchandiser. Your always in your in calls everyday dealing with issues that you may come across with our product that needs to be investigated, you sometimes have to feed back information to your contacts in stores ie store managers, store stock controller or just anyone that need to be in the know in the stores you cover.
So having these conversations and situation you tend to build a relationship with these individuals in store and having that level of communication with them with carry on building and nurturing the relationship which makes the job much more fun and easy for yourself to succeed.
In the role of Merchandiser it does help if you come from a Supermarket background and have experience of retail sales experience. The job itself is all about developing relationships so you do need to be a people person but everything else you will receive training and support. It’s a great enjoyable role which does require some physical effort but offers good opportunities to other roles in the business.
