Iain Y. asked a question to Bal M.
Hi Iain!
Every sales role varies however most people who have never worked in a field sales role are unaware that working in the field can feel quite lonely as unlike office based jobs, the only face to face interactions you have on a daily basis are with your customers. Having said this however, it's important to maintain self motivation by keeping in touch with other employees through regular forms of communication and a clear focus of what you would like to achieve by the end of each day. This could be personal targets you set yourself or ones which the company assign to you that you could break down in bite sized chunks.
Hi Iain. As mentioned above by Elena you are working on your own throughout the year so this can be a challenge however we have a number of face to face conference calls on a weekly basis along with face to face team meetings & the full support of your team members & line manager over the phone.
Another challenge dependent on the type of job you are applying for, You may get some knock backs from customers as you are likely to meet all different types of customers on your travels. However, We work for an exciting brand which with our support creates so much value for the customer & so gives you a great chance of creating a strong relationship & value long term with even the most challenging.
Hi Iain, in my opinion the single biggest challenge is reaching the right decision maker. Depending on the environment that you work in it can be difficult to meet the person who can say yes to our support. My advice to combat this would be;
- planning, make notes and visit at their most suitable time
- be clear, offer solutions to their problems that are valuable and that we can deliver
- contact strategy, email, phone, social media
